Add a chatbot to your Shopify store

Follow these steps to deploy your bntr chatbot on your Shopify store. This will enable your visitors to interact with the chatbot seamlessly.

1. Get the Chatbot Script

  • Log into your bntr account.
  • Obtain the HTML code by selecting ‘Get Embed Code’ on your chatbot, in the ‘My Chatbots’ section of your account.
  • Copy the script based on how you will be displaying your chatbot; either in an iframe or floating at the bottom on your webpage.


2. Log in to Shopify Admin

Go to your Shopify store and log in to the Shopify admin panel.


3. Navigate to Themes

  • In the left sidebar, click on “Online Store.”
  • Under “Online Store,” click on “Themes.”


4. Edit the Code

  • Find the theme you are currently using and click on “Actions” > “Edit Code.”
  • In the “Layout” section, locate the ‘theme.liquid’ file and click on it.


5. Add the Embed Code

Scroll down to the bottom of the theme.liquid file and paste the bntr chatbot embed code just before the closing </body> tag.


6. Save Changes

After pasting the embed code, click the “Save” button to apply the changes.


7. Test Your Chatbot

Open your Shopify store in a web browser to ensure the bntr chatbot is visible and functioning correctly.


Troubleshooting

  • Chatbot Not Appearing: Ensure the embed code is correctly pasted and saved in the theme.liquid file.
  • Script Errors: Check the browser console for any JavaScript errors and ensure the script URL is correct.
  • Styling Issues: If the chatbot’s appearance needs adjustment, you can add custom CSS to your Shopify theme.
